What are the IDAE standardised datasheets for CAE?
Standardised datasheets form the technical foundation of the Certificados de Ahorro Energético system. Published by the IDAE through the Orden TED/845/2023, they define, for each type of action, the savings calculation formula, the required technical parameters and the applicability conditions. Any standardised CAE file must be based on one of these datasheets for the declared saving to be admissible before MITECO.
How many CAE datasheets exist and how are they organised?
The catalogue currently contains 114 datasheets organised into five sectors. The Industrial sector (IND) groups the datasheets relating to production processes, motors, compressors, industrial lighting and heat recovery systems. The Tertiary sector (TER) covers air conditioning, lighting, domestic hot water and the thermal envelope of non-residential buildings. The Residential sector (RES) encompasses thermal insulation, windows, boilers, heat pumps and ventilation systems in dwellings. The Agricultural sector (AGR) includes actions on farms and livestock operations. The Transport sector (TRA) covers fleet renewal and efficiency improvements in the transport of goods and people.
How is an IDAE datasheet used to calculate the energy saving?
Each datasheet defines a mathematical formula with variables specific to the action: power of the replaced equipment and of the new one, energy efficiency, annual operating hours, climate zone, correction factors and simultaneity coefficients. The intermediary enters these parameters from the technical documentation of the installation (manufacturer datasheets, invoices, technical reports) and the formula returns the saving in kWh. This result is converted into MWh and into tep (1 tep = 11.63 MWh) to verify that the file exceeds the minimum threshold of 30 MWh required by article 14.6 of the Orden TED/815/2023. The free CertificAhorro calculator lets you perform this calculation with 5 datasheets without registration.
Which CAE datasheets are most used in the Spanish market?
The datasheets with the largest volume of processed files correspond to frequent actions in the industrial and tertiary sectors. Datasheet IND050 (replacement of industrial process equipment) and datasheet TER030 (air conditioning renewal in the tertiary sector) account for a significant share of the market. LED lighting datasheets (TER040 for tertiary, IND020 for industrial) and thermal insulation datasheets (RES080 for residential) are also in high demand. Choosing the right datasheet is decisive: applying an incorrect datasheet invalidates the calculation and may lead to the rejection of the file by the ENAC verifier.
What is the difference between a standardised datasheet and a singular action?
Standardised datasheets cover typical actions with predefined calculation formulas. When an energy efficiency action does not fit any datasheet in the catalogue, it is classified as a singular action and requires an ad hoc calculation methodology, accompanied by a specific technical report. Singular actions are more complex to process and verify. CertificAhorro manages standardised actions, which represent the vast majority of files in the Spanish CAE market.
